SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business Standalone Plans Are Being Retired — What Businesses Need to Know

Microsoft has announced that it is gradually discontinuing standalone plans for SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business.
24.02.2026

Specifically, the following plans will be discontinued: SharePoint Online Plan 1 and Plan 2, and OneDrive for Business Plan 1 and Plan 2. In the future, these services will be available only as part of a Microsoft 365 subscription.

What is changing and when

June 1, 2026 — Microsoft will stop selling standalone plans for SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business. At this stage, existing subscriptions can still be renewed.

January 2027 — Renewals will no longer be available.

December 2029 — These plans will be fully retired and will no longer be supported.

What this means for partners

Partners are advised to review their customer base in advance and identify clients who are currently using these plans. It is important to start planning the transition to alternative options, such as:

Microsoft 365 Business plans

Enterprise plans, such as E3 or E5

Additional storage add-ons, if expanded capacity is required

If you need assistance selecting the right option or planning the migration, please contact your account manager.
